Hard or soft rackets? What suits me better?

Surface material: the more carbon used, the harder the hitting surface. Fiberglass is softer.

Foam used: firm foam (e.g. Powerfoam, EVA Hard, etc.) vs. soft foam (Control Foam, EVA Soft)

Advantages of hard rackets:

  • Control: although the sweet spot is smaller, you get more control, similar to a “tight stringing” in tennis

  • Power: less ball impact energy = more speed and bounce
→ Important: Good technique is required

Advantages of soft rackets:

  • Comfort: you can generate power with little effort due to a greater trampoline effect

  • Vibration absorption: soft rackets absorb vibrations better, increasing comfort with every shot

Target group for soft rackets:

  • Beginners still developing technique

  • Players who want to generate power easily and effortlessly

  • Players with injury history looking for comfort

Target group for hard rackets:

  • Technically advanced players

  • Ambitious players with their own power looking for more control
